Uber operates in Cancun and works well for quick trips once you're already at your hotel: a ride between hotels, a restaurant in downtown Cancun, or a night out in the Hotel Zone. It's metered and cashless, so there's no negotiating a price like you would with a street taxi.
Worth knowing: Uber pickups directly at Cancun Airport are restricted by local taxi union rules, and can be inconsistent or require walking to a pickup point outside the terminal. For your airport-to-hotel leg, a pre-booked private transfer is the more reliable option, save Uber for getting around once you've settled in.
Uber is genuinely useful once you're on the ground: heading to a restaurant outside your resort, bar-hopping in the Hotel Zone without worrying about a rental car, or getting downtown for cheaper food and shopping. It's a solid backup any time you don't want to negotiate a taxi fare.
